Board of Directors

The Senate of the Associated Students serves as both the Board of Directors of the Associated Students auxiliary corporation and the legislative body of the student government. The Senate is made up of 4 executive officers and 4 Senators, all of whom are voting members. The executives are the President, Executive Vice-President, Vice-President of Finance and Vice President of External Affairs. The Senators are Senator of Student Affairs, Senator of Academic Affairs, Senator of Engagement, and Senator of Student Success.
The Senate serves as the ultimate management authority of the corporation and is elected from amongst and by the members (all regularly enrolled students of the university) of the organization.

I decided to take on the role of being your President because I have been a part of the Board of Directors for two terms as the Senator of Diversity. During this time I have had great mentors who have pushed me to challenge myself by taking on this role and have supported my goals to sustain student success. My goal this year is to establish our Student Bill of Rights document and allow the student body to familiarize themselves with our executive team.

I am driven by a deep-seated passion for advocacy and a commitment to amplifying student voices. My journey to this role has been shaped by a desire to effect meaningful change and create a more inclusive campus community. Drawing from my experiences as a student of color and my involvement in various leadership positions, I aim to bridge the gap between our student body and external stakeholders, ensuring that SSU students' interests are represented at local, state, and national levels.

I chose this role because of my passion for finance and desire to serve my community. In my prior role as an AS Student Government Representative, I established a strong work ethic and discovered my fondness for the organization. With my finance background, I felt that becoming VP of Finance would help me strengthen my skills while also making a difference within our institution. My goals are to focus on creating an investment policy as well as a five year strategic plan for AS.

I chose this role to push myself out of my comfort zone and grow both personally and professionally. By taking on this unique opportunity, I have the privilege of advocating for students, their needs, and driving positive change on campus. My goal is to connect with students, listen to their concerns, and ensure their voices are represented in committees where important decisions are made.

Student success is not a solitary action. To get where I am now I relied on my peers, mentors, and teachers. I want every student to feel like they have the ability to reach out to the resources they need. In my position, I seek to serve all students in creating a campus environment where students can succeed. I am dedicated to listening and learning more from students so they can have access to the resources they need to succeed.

As a transfer and first-generation college student, I have been motivated to promote academic transparency and equity for all students here at SSU. I intend to promote initiatives that support 4-year graduation rates, cost-effective transcripts within the CSU system, accessible academic resources, and student-centered policy revisions related to academic misconduct. Thank you, Seawolves, for allowing me to hear your dynamic perspectives and join you in your academic journey!

I chose this role to foster a connected and inclusive campus community. My active involvement in SSU clubs and organizations has deepened my understanding of our campus culture and the diverse needs of our student body. My journey at SSU has been enriched through these experiences, teaching me the power of collaboration and the impact of student leadership. Inspired by our diverse and dynamic community, I am committed to amplifying student voices, creating opportunities for meaningful involvement, and empowering others to lead with passion and purpose.

As a student leader with a deep passion for student involvement, I chose to take on this role to amplify student voices and ensure they are represented in decisions that affect their university experience. As a first-generation transfer student, I understand the importance of advocating for those who are underrepresented or unsure about navigating higher education. I aim to address student needs, such as increasing awareness of essential resources like transportation and student discounts and making sure students have the tools and support to thrive both academically and personally.

As a first-generation, low-income student, I have experienced the unique challenges and opportunities that come with navigating higher education. I believe that all students, regardless of their backgrounds, deserve a chance to succeed. By taking on this role, I hope to increase the voices of marginalized students and advocate for policies that create a more inclusive and equitable campus environment.
