AS Presidential Candidate
As a SSU student, I value knowledge and transparency. Ever since I began at SSU, I embedded myself into its community. I lived on campus, worked campus jobs, including Senator of Student Success in Associated Students (AS) and Peer Mentor, joined several clubs, and even explored multiple major paths before landing on my current ones: Sociology and Women and Gender Studies. Through all these experiences, I gained a deep understanding of student needs. Specifically, I learned what drives student success and what hurdles we face. My leadership style makes magic happen: empathetic, honest, and solution-driven. I lead with empathy but add a dash of honesty. I listen, act, communicate, and collaborate to craft efficient solutions benefiting our community. I'm aware, we all are, our budget crisis is dire, change is brewing, and unrest is palpable. My own major, one I'm passionate about, like many of yours, is affected. What SSU needs now is a leader advocating for others, driving results, and fostering unity. These are my promises, backed by skills honed as Peer Mentor and Senator, passing policies and supporting first-year students. That's why my slogan is Madelyn Makes Magic, because I truly can make magic happen!

Vice President External Affairs Candidate
Hello, my name is Vanessa Mendoza, and I am running for Vice President of External Affairs. As a transfer student from Sacramento majoring in Political Science, my diverse experiences have fueled my unwavering commitment to equity, advocacy, and representation. During my time here at Sonoma I have been a fellow with LEAD California and worked to promote civic engagement and leadership among students. I’m also a member of the External Affairs Task Force and have collaborated with peers to advocate for students' civic participation on campus. If elected, I promise to be more than just a leader; I will be your advocate. My mission is to amplify the voices of students who too often go unheard and ensure their concerns are met with action. From improving resources for transfer and underrepresented students to fostering civic engagement and building an inclusive campus climate, I am dedicated to creating meaningful, positive change at Sonoma State. Together, we can strengthen our Seawolf community by celebrating diversity, promoting collaboration, and ensuring every student feels empowered to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Remember: Your voice matters. Your vision matters. Together, we can make it happen. Vote Vanessa Mendoza for Vice President of External Affairs!

An Associated Students Public Servant is “somebody who is committed to the improvement of the quality of their peer’s college experience, and beyond. Doing so with the knowledge that this commitment means doing so even when it isn’t easy or convenient. It means taking on the responsibility of speaking for their peers, and in turn, listening well enough to know when to step up and step back. In our success, we will serve as an example and empower the students of Sonoma State University.” - AS Senior Leaders
