AS Corporate Resolution - Student Awareness of Associated Students Functions

Wheras

The Associated Students (AS) Senate serves as the Board of Directors of the Associated Students of Sonoma State University, Inc.; and 

Whereas

The Associated Students of Sonoma State University is a student-run auxiliary, providing programs and services to enhance the lives of students; and

Whereas

The Senate of the Associated Students “serves as both the Board of Directors of the Associated Students auxiliary corporation and the legislative body of the student government”; and

Whereas

it is the Senate’s responsibility to spread awareness about AS functions to the Associated Students; and

Whereas

These functions include information about the AS branches including ASP, Children’s School, Basic Needs, and Student Government. These branches aim to provide “students with community service opportunities, co curricular events, and activities through Associated Students Productions (ASP); early childhood education and child development laboratory through the Children’s School; services and programs that support students Basic Needs; and Student Government involvement opportunities. Additionally, AS provides funding resources to chartered student clubs and organizations, club accounting services, short-term loans and transitional housing for students of Sonoma State University.”; and

Whereas

general ways to increase awareness are classroom visits, RSO visits, and tabling. Here BOD can discuss AS’s mission, connect with students, and outline the branches; and

Whereas

BOD shall communicate to students the resolutions they have passed. This can be accomplished through holding reverse open forums and senate in a minute videos to post on social media.

Therefore let it hereby be resolved that the Associated Students of Sonoma State University, Inc. Board of Directors in their authority will work to spread awareness about AS functions; and 

Therefore let it hereby be further resolved spreading awareness shall be accomplished by the completion of the following in 90 days: tabling twice a week for a total of two hours, one marketing video a month about BOD, 50 classroom visits, one reverse open forum, and officers attend a total of 25 club events/meetings. 

Action Plan

  1. In the senate meeting following the passing of this resolution a discussion item will be added to assign BOD members to the items on the list above.
  2. Quarterly a senate agenda item should be added to check in about the attendance of these items.
  3. In every action plan of a government resolution there should be a clause about who will do the reporting of the resolutions to the Associated Students.
