CalFresh Outreach Program

Important Notice

The county is currently experiencing a high volume of CalFresh applications and doing their best to accommodate students' requests for CalFresh benefits. Due to the high demand for support, interviews may not be scheduled until as late as January 2024. Interviews are required for all new applicants to receive benefits.

Please keep in mind that once approved for CalFresh benefits, you will receive funds on your EBT card sent in the mail. Your card balance will include funds for the months in which you were waiting for benefits (back dates to the date your application was submitted). For example, if you applied in August but do not receive your EBT card until December, your balance will include funds for September, October, November, AND December. Therefore, we recommend submitting your application as soon as possible, even if you need to patiently wait for your interview.

Our CalFresh Outreach Team understands how frustrating wait times can be and is working hard to connect students to additional food resources while they wait for their benefits. If you are currently experiencing an urgent need for food, please visit our Lobo’s Pantry or view a list of Sonoma County Food Resources. You are also welcome to reach out to our team and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

If you have any questions or need support, please schedule an appointment with our team or email us at calfresh@sonoma.edu.
