Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week

Join JUMP in our annual Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, where we spread awareness to the Sonoma State Community about the various issues people face with food and housing insecurity.

Monday 11/15

JUMP Days of Service Volunteer Event | 2:00PM-4:00PM |  Redwood Empire Food bank

Volunteer with JUMP at REFB warehouse in Santa Rosa. Volunteers can expect to clean and package fresh fruits and vegetables for individuals and families throughout our community, assembling grocery boxes for seniors in need, and sorting donated non-perishable foods for distribution throughout our service region. JUMP Presents: Blanket making and movie night | 6:00PM-9:00PM |  Ballroom B

Come watch The Hunger Games, then discuss how that film reflects poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness in our society today, as we make tie blankets that we will donate to local homeless shelters. For any questions or accommodations, contact

Lobo’s Pantry Presents: Pop up pantry | 12:30PM-2:30PM |  Seawolf Plaza

In addition to Lobos pantry’s regular hours in Zinfandel Village, we will be popping up in seawolf plaza! Students just need to bring their SSU ID to receive FREE fresh produce. For any questions contact

Come learn how to cook a recipe using Lobo’s Pantry Ingredients! ASP, JUMP, and The Basic Needs teams will be collaborating to cook pasta, side veggies and buñuelos. Viewers have the chance to win cooking equipment including a pot, pan, cutting board, utensils, etc. Contact for any questions. For any panty inquiries contact

Wednesday 11/17 

JUMP Volunteer Event | 9:15AM - 11:30 AM | The Living Room in Santa Rosa

Volunteer with JUMP at The Living Room in Santa Rosa. The Living Room supports women and children experiencing homelessness in Sonoma County. Volunteers will assist the chef in preparing meals that will be distributed to those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in Santa Rosa.Contact for more information or to request to participate.

JUMP Presents: Combating Homelessness in Sonoma County| 5:00PM - 7:00PM | Sonoma Valley Room

 Adrienne Lauby, cofounder of HomelessAction! and president of Sonoma Applied Village Services, will discuss the history of homelessness and her work in Sonoma County to end it. Speakers Jenna Garcia and Emily Quig from the city of Rohnert Park will present on homelessness specifically in Rohnert Park, and how the city is addressing it. After speakers present, there will be a Q&A. Contact for any questions or accommodations.


Lobo's Pantry Highlight | 11/8 - 11/18 | 

Lobo’s Pantry provides nutritious food, CalFresh food program assistance, and referral services for students experiencing food insecurity. Visit during their regular hours to learn more about the chance to win some prizes! Contact for any questions.

Lobos’s Pantry Presents: Food Drive | 11/9 - 11/19

Donate non-perishable foods and hygiene products to Lobo’s Pantry! Donation bins can be found on the 1st floor of the Student Center, Rec Center, Library, and Salazar. Suggested donations include; toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, bar soap, tampons/pads, rice, pasta, canned vegetables, canned fruit, beans, canned soup, and granola bars.
